[edit]I didn't think that this really deserved its own encyclopedic entry, but maybe it's of interest to someone: the Ella Fitzgerald version of this song (recorded in 1938) is one of the gramaphone tracks in GWX for Silent Hunter 3 (138.ogg). UltimaGecko (talk) 04:17, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing it out but it probably isn't notable enough to be used in the article as we cant list all the occasions when the song has been used.--SabreBD (talk) 11:40, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
Ella Fitzgerald Version
[edit]If I'm not mistaken, in Ella Fitzgerald's version, the basket was brown and yellow. Kostaki mou (talk) 02:08, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- It is strange that a section called "Lyrics by Ella Fitzgerald" doesn't give her lyrics, but instead a misleading reference to an unspecified version. --142.163.194.161 (talk) 20:50, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
No explanation?
[edit]What is the meaning of "Tisket" and "Tasket"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.134.141.165 (talk) 19:03, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
What is the historical significance of the original nursery rhyme? Did the current events or overarching attitudes of the late 1800s in America influence the development of the rhyme and/or children's game? Rine02lessthan3 (talk) 23:48, 18 September 2021 (UTC)
Version i knew
[edit]All kids are in the circle with their eyes closed, one person walks around holding a small object, at some point during the song, they will drop it behind a child
All sing
I wrote a letter to my love and on the way i dropped it, a little doggy picked it up and put it in his pocket, he wont bite me and he wont bite you but he'll bite the one whos got it, so drop it so drop it, it must be dropped by now bow wow
At wow, all kids open their eyes and see whos got it, whoever it is must get up and chase the walker around the circle, trying to tag them. The walker, while running away, must attempt to retreive the object. Whoever completes their objective first wins, leave the looser as the walker for next round. 76.66.164.205 (talk) 00:54, 15 August 2024 (UTC)
